If it ever comes to this point it would be the OBLIGATION of the military to dissolve the government and take temporary control until free and fair elections could take place in accordance with the Constitution.

If they don't then individual states need to declare the government and the union no longer viable and begin articles of secession.

Ya, we don't have those kind of Generals anymore. There's not much a Private or Sergeant could do but a some kind of suicide mission which would probably help the enemy more than us. If that did happen, the first you'd know about it is when the shooting starting.

Like in Virginia, the county Sheriff is the highest elected law enforcement officer on a local basis.
