Even my g/f, who doesn't follow politics, assumed that the POTUS is now being removed from office. Lots of ignorance out there. And it's going to blow up in their faces when they realize that what they wanted (impeachment) will not deliver what they expected (removal from office).

They won't teach students how the republic's government works, so when they abuse, misuse and finally dismantle and destroy it, the marxist-indoctrinated citizenry won't notice or react. "Death camps are in the Constitution? Oh. Ok."

"Is Trump still eligible..." This is the type of retard that the Democrats pander to. Clueless, yet thinks he should tell his political opinions to the world.

Clueless, yet thinks he should tell his political opinions to the world.

Reagan put it well: "Well, the trouble with our liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, but that they know so much that isn't so."

Aside from the lack of actual crimes committed, this is no different than a democrat politician getting elected after actual crimes have been committed.

Looking at "Dollar" Bill Jefferson (D) here.

I can cite a worse example: Alcee Hastings (D-FL) was a US District Judge that was impeached and removed from the bench in the 90's for bribery.

The Senate didn't separately vote to bar him from future federal office, so he was eligible to run for federal office. He is now a Representative, on the Rules Committee.

"Just to be the guy who ran again"

These sick victim blaming fucks. A CRIMINAL ON YOUR SIDE FALSIFIED EVIDENCE, THAT'S LITERALLY EVERYTHING "RUSSIA-GATE" IS!!

This duly elected American president who nobody in the entire world can prove ever committed a crime is going to run for re-election because it is his God given right.

Shame on you for being convinced to be the opposite of America.

Yet none of these people are upset at the public schools that failed to teach them basic civics.

No, Hillary doesn't get to be the president now.

Bill Clinton was bipartisanly impeached for the proven and very real crime of lying to congress under oath (perjury), and wasnt removed from office and still won reelection.

edit: happened in his 2nd term, but I think democrats gained control of congress after it from voter backlash.

Freshcope 7 points ago +7 / -0

And the impeachment happened on this date in 1999. Happy impeachment day everyone!!!!

6
DisgustedByMisleadia 6 points ago +6 / -0

Right day, wrong year. It was in 1998.

4
DisgustedByMisleadia 4 points ago +4 / -0

No, Clinton was impeached during his second term. He did not run for reelection afterwards.

Republicans retained control of Congress in 1998, but by reduced margins.

ProudAmerican 15 points ago +15 / -0

The reason a conviction doesn’t remove a persons ability to run for President was designed so a man can’t be wrongfully accused by a partisan body to prevent him from holding office.

6
Archangel 6 points ago +6 / -0

That's ludicrous, our elected leaders would never do such a thing.

5
datawarrior 5 points ago +5 / -0

Impeachment isnt a conviction. That happens in the Senate after an actual trial. All these cunts did was draw up a document thats supposed to go to the Senate as a referral. They couldn't even do that part right.

13
Skyrison 13 points ago +13 / -0

you have NO IDEA how many people think "impeachment" means "thrown out of office". it's utterly insane to me just how ignorant people ARE about politics...

probably 6/10 people i talked to in the past 3 weeks about this all thought impeachment meant "thrown out of office"

somebody should call her a fucking loser right to her face, and give her the middle finger.

Cue_Cumber 8 points ago +9 / -1

Briefly, just tell them, "No. Impeachment is an indictment by the House; the Senate holds the trial." You can add, if they're still listening, that Senators sit quietly -- no speeches, debates or arguments -- because they are jurors, and that even conviction does NOT necessarily mean removal: Clinton was convicted but NOT removed.

THIS impeachment is like a grand jury (House) indicting, the DA (Pelosi) forwarding it to the Judge, the judge (McConnell) taking one look and asking, "Indicted for what?! There's no crime here!" and dismissing it. Which is why Pelosi says she's not forwarding the indictment (articles of impeachment) to the Senate.

Lord, they're going to drag this out to November 2020. They plan on wearing us out, so that we'll vote how they want us to: "OK OK. FINE! We'll vote him out! Anything to end this!" Hell is gonna freeze Dems, and then that frozen lake of fire will be coming for ya.

7
DisgustedByMisleadia 7 points ago +7 / -0

This is not correct: Clinton was not "convicted" of anything.

He ultimately lost the civil suit that started it all, and paid a judgement to Paula Jones. And, he was disbarred for lying under oath.

I don't think Pelosi has any further power: sending the articles of impeachment is a parliamentary procedure. It's not in the Constitution. The Senate can declare the impeachment to have occurred (it's public record), and commence the trial, without or without the House.

magamagashii 12 points ago +12 / -0

THIS is why I was happy it's over. Now Trump will go down in history as the FIRST President to get impeached but got re-elected in a landslide.

GOOD FUCKING LUCK on finding a "narrative" for the history books on that one you fucking fuck Dems.

All you need to know about the DNC is that it's the party of "narratives" and "reframing" and NOT reality.

DisgustedByMisleadia 9 points ago +9 / -0

Setting aside all of the political maneuvering, this is what is provided by the Constitution:

  1. Impeached, acquitted: Trump can run for reelection.

  2. Impeached, only removed from office: Trump can run for election again.

Yes, really. Trump can run for any federal office again unless the Senate separately votes to bar him from future federal office.

Case in point: Alcee Hastings (D-FL) was a US district judge. He was impeached and removed from the bench back in the 90's for bribery. But, the Senate did not separately vote to bar him from future federal office, and he is now a US Representative. Ironically, he is on the Rules Committee that set the rules of the debate for the articles of impeachment yesterday.

This is their 7th try, and it's going to fail, too. They took 6 previous impeachment votes and this is number 7. So much effort for total waste. Plus, Trump made over $10 million in the last 2 days.
