Dear Congressman Price, After yesterday’s vote, I am concerned that the party I supported wholeheartedly for many years has abused congressional power in an attempt to overturn the results of the 2016 election as well as the will of the people, but most importantly to interfere in the 2020 election.

I had sent an email months back and was shocked at the tone you replied with. I wouldn’t say you were condescending, out of touch with your constituents, or belittling in your response, because that would be disrespectful to say. I will say that you dismissed my concerns stating I didn’t understand the context, and perhaps you’re right, I may not be clever or crafty enough to have a net worth around $4mil on a civil servants salary. But since you are, I read and reread you reply, then I took what may have been perceived as ‘advice’ in the most generous definition of the word, and educated myself on the context of your decision.

One thing that stood out was the odd set of impeachment hearing rules that congress agreed to, which seemed to prevent republicans in congress from calling witnesses, providing exculpatory evidence, and holding a minority day prior to a formal vote.

Lastly, I feel that it is odd that our previous president, who I voted for, didn’t receive criticism from you or your colleagues when he allowed Russia to annex Crimea, providing no support to the Ukrainians. On top of that, it appears that withholding funds until Viktor Shokin was fired was also considered acceptable foreign policy by the executive branch and raised no concerns from you or your colleagues in congress.

Do you believe that, objectively and without partisan, the executive branch has the authority to dictate foreign policy?

Do you believe they should do so with the US citizens best interests in mind?

I doubt, based on your last reply, that you have any intention of changing hearts and minds of those that question your decisions; that is your prerogative. Despite your best efforts, you (alongside your colleagues in congress) have changed many people’s opinions and I can attest to that! My parents, wife, many coworkers and friends who were apolitical and unmotivated to take sides are now changing their minds, following their hearts, and re-examining the years of mistreatment of President Trump by the swamp leviathan, political machine of DC elitists.

Your strategists and aides likely accounted for some blowback when you decided to carry the torch for the DC political elites. I would like to remind you that even after your voting, the party’s political theater and what appears to be a hearing of questionable legitimacy, President Trump is still your president. Based on my discussions with my coworkers friends and family (many of whom are moderates/independents) have a feeling the political blowback you intend to absorb in 2020 will be more than you or your colleagues in congress can handle.

Having said all of that, you should still be proud of your vote yesterday, because looking at your track record, it seems like the first thing you’ve truly accomplished in congress for 30 years.

My advice to you is somewhat of an echo of your advice to me: look at the context. You’ve made these decisions within the context of a DC elite bubble, you should try harder to keep a finger on the pulse of what life is like beyond the beltway, and how President Trump appears to be working hard to fulfill his promises to provide a better life for average Americans, despite the resistance from you and your colleagues in DC.

Would you agree that a strong economy, record low black unemployment and record numbers of women in the workforce are good for your district, North Carolina, and this nation as a whole? Would you be able to put aside your partisan beliefs and acknowledge objectively positive improvements for your constituents?

I fear that your answer to these will again be that I lack contextual knowledge, but regardless I am certainly genuinely curious about your opinions, beliefs/principles, and your responses to my inquiries.

I would never, NEVER call him a fat, ugly, useless and out of touch swamp creature who caves to socialist authoritarians to score points in the victimhood/oppression totem pole.. that wouldn’t be respectful!
