Saw it yesterday. I didn't pay for the tickets. My review for it is...a movie desperately trying to win back the fans.

It doesn't work though.

While it does everything it can to undo the damage of the first two, it doesn't work. I have no connections to any of the characters. The romance between Fin and Rose isn't even touched on or mentioned. Rey is still Super Rey, and she is Palpatine's granddaughter. That's their explanation for why she has the force. She can heal people with the force...because of course she can.

Kylo is Vader's grandson...or whatever. I didn't really care for the explanation.

Papls is...there...for some reason. He is defeated by Super Rey because she has the power of every Jedi behind her. The fight between the two was cringey and cheesey. She supposedly died, but Kylo brought her back by sacrificing his force life and giving it to her.

Yeah...it was cheesy.

Landon is just there for nostalgia.

I could care less about Poe.

They dialed back the man hate by slot, and the whole believe wahmen shit has been abandoned. It's not a terrible movie like TLJ, but it wasn't good because there was no cohesion at all between the trilogy. If the trilogy started with this, it wouldn't have been so bad. But since it wasn't, it was just a half decent Star Wars film trying to stand on its own but with character arcs that go nowhere and very little if any bearing on the story.

It's a DVD rental at best. I didn't care for it at all. It's barely good enough to stand with the qualities of the prequels, but those are much better films.

They also try to make Kylo menacing as he stands around and monologues to Rey a few times...in his helmet...that makes him look and sound like a third rate Vader at a discount store. They can also pull stuff out of thin air now...making shit magically appear for reasons I don't know and care. It's a mess of a movie and trilogy.

Also, Benico Del Toro's character wasn't in the film at all. The black girl with the fro in the trailer...nothing interesting. Characters come and go, and it's hard to care for them.
