I think he was implying that the sheriffs and other lawmen should resign, but conveniently overlooking the fact that THE U.S. CONSTITUTION IS THE HIGHEST LAW OF THE LAND.

yeah, no. They didn't swear an oath to "uphold the law", they swore an oath to "defend and protect the Constitution".
