Ever notice that most of de Niro's roles have been gangsters and bad guys? I wonder why that is?

I realized this because I was trying to imagine a more likable actor to play the Irishman. Kurt Russell? James Woods? Bruce Willis? But those actors almost always play good guys. I'm guessing that actors tend to take roles they can identify with.

This would explain de Niro's thuggish attitude. He sees himself as a tough guy who feels persecuted by the rest of society. So in his mind, a President who wants to enforce our immigration laws is a heartless beast who hates all immigrants. But de Niro had a privileged childhood with artsy parents and private schools, including two years at the junior high division of the infamous Little Red Schoolhouse. In other words, like most leftists, hes a big fat phony.
