I love this platform, but true free speech is a harsh mistress that many people claim they want, only to flee from it.

Voat.co, for example, is a true free speech platform.

I think this platform functions best as a welcoming, safe space for people to have a reasonable degree of freedom while maintaining a balance of not scaring most people away.

You can live in a community that values freedom, and still not tolerate vandalism, which is what most of the questionable content there really is.

For many, many years Americans had a common understanding of what free speech means in their public forums.

Please explain what form of free speech you consider to be vandalism?

Also, please explain who is best to decide what opinions you are I are allowed to be exposed to? Is it you? Is it me? Is it a jihadist or an atheist or a Talmudic Jew or the most prudish person in the room?
