It really is like that though. I grew up with liberal parents and my mom was a social worker. I thought you were basically gauranteed a job if you had a degree, etc, etc.

Totally not how the world works.

I have steadily progressed first in the navy (almost got kicked out, got demoted, etc but made it).

Last year I made $200k as a consultant. My job hopping / Jack-of-all-tradesness has actually made me an asset to new projects being put in service for the first time.

Job worthiness and rate of pay is about what you can do to make the company money and that's it. And that's how it should be. It's sad that information is a red pill. Meritocracy should be obvious.
