Balance of powers has a downside. So does not being able to execute whoever pisses you off. Trust me though, China has a shitton of corrupt party insiders. This unfortunate fellow just wasn't (how old is this article?) isn't one of them.

Assuming he wasn't framed for the crime out of jealousy or scapegoating for some inner party member... That's a HUGE assumption.

Can you trust the legal system to provide a fair and speedy trial by peers?

Don't trust China. They punish you for drunken "social media" posts about aggressive police. #asshoe

Looks to me that the government is finally taking control from fascistic economics (which they used to prop up their economy through immoral practices) into full blown communism. Now that they have what they want, they may be purging high end execs in order to completely take the reigns and reap the rewards, or perhaps to curtail their own mistakes. Guess all those concentration camps and geopolitical bullying paid off afterall.

While I see your point, there’s also a ton of times justice is rendered unfairly, quickly and fatally by China and be careful of what you ask for.
