I think they are tasked with defending the 'little guy' and are failing. Esp when it comes to redistribution or raising up the lower and middle classes. I also think, sometimes, the underdog is there for a reason and some people receive public shame for a reason. Usually not. Usually, it's mob mentality and ganging up on someone for shit reasons. But, sometimes it's deserved.
Generally though people are just fucking dumb. On both sides.
They say they are for the "little guy", yet CA, which has enacted more social programs than any other state, has more "little guys" who are homeless in a heroin fog taking a dump in the streets. Don't believe for a minute that the leadership is interested in anything but lining their pockets and gaining more power to take what is yours.
