It's an old term long used by the military industrial complex. Popular with Bill Crystal types for decades. It is also convenient, because spelling out all the different types of forces is wrong (likely no Sailors in this operation) and eats up a lot of Twitter real estate.
I appreciate President Trump responding this way. But out of curiosity, why aren't serious military personnel already stationed at embassy's in/near sensitive areas or war zones?
Basically any embassy in and around the middle east seems like one of those places that should always have people on the ready.
