Within the next 1-2 years, I am planning on moving.
But it seems the types of places I like, cities, are generally run by mentally ill liberals. I'm not opposed to moving to a rural area, I understand I'd probably have to compromise on a mix between city convenience and rural small town. Which I'm okay with.
However the one thing I don't want to compromise on is ideology. I've lived near liberals my entire life pretty much, and it's become insufferable. Having to deal with leftism 10-16 hours a day, everyday, is tiring. I just want a break lol.
So what are the best cities to live in, but heavily conservative? And by heavy, I mean, not 55% voted Trump in 2016, I'm thinking like 70-80%+ voted Trump.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
What size city?
Coeur d'Alene Idaho is very nice.
Salt Lake City (still, Mormon, as discussed elsewhere.)
I think the state of Oklahoma had zero counties voting for the Hildebeast; so if you can stand tornadoes and endless miles of flat, Oklahoma City.
Possibly to consider, I don't actually know: Charleston, WV Fargo, ND (cold!) Rural Missouri (say an hour outside of Kansas City)
I'd say Wyoming except any town of any size there is an academic town (very liberal).
Good luck!
I'm not really concerned about the size, more so a place that has availability of goods and services. It can be a small or medium place.
Oklahoma and West Virginia are definitely some of my main considerations! Haven't looked at cities in North Dakota yet, but ill check it out!
I did used to live in Salt Lake, unfortunately it's basically Portland minus the mentally ill screaming in sidewalks and stopping traffic to shit in the middle of the street lol
Boise, ID is nice. Orem/Provo, UT qualifies. Those are the only two that I know for sure fit your criteria.
Unfortunately Provo no longer fits. It would have been a great spot some years ago. But Mormonism has recently seen a slight shift towards Social Justice, and one reason for that I think has been the church embracing values from Silicon Valley in an attempt to modernize.
It started in Lehi, and has made its way South to Orem and Provo. I used to live in Utah, and Provo has been all too eager to buy into the "startup" life style, which has brought an influx of non Conservatives to the area.
This shift has also attracted many big silicon valley companies to that area of Utah, and their ideology has been slowly, very slowly, been infecting the locals who get work there.
It's hard to explain, but I actually think Mormonism may be susceptible to becoming a liberal religion. Like how the upper echelons of Catholicism is, the only difference is Mormonism is still so centralized and influenced by upper church leadership, it can trickle down to actual members, which doesn't really happen in a grand scale in Catholicism.
Sorry I could talk for ages about Mormons and Utah lol
But I will look into Boise! I do not know anything about it!
A lot of Mormons, as well as the Catholic Church, are big supporters of mass immigration and refuse to think realistically about the largely negative impact it has on the prospects for native born Americans. Immigration is a big part of why some of them are Never Trumpers.
Another good point! It's really a shame, because Mormons are a great people, with good intentions, but they are way to idealistic and naive.
I can't think of any cities that voted like 70-80% Trump but if there were they had to have been overwhelmingly white and probably in the south or midwest. I guess there must be some suburbs that fit the bill. Here you go. None of these cities are all that big though: https://www.cheatsheet.com/culture/cities-live-love-donald-trump.html/
Gatlinburg, TN. Now that is Trump country! And a beautiful part of the country as well.
Thank you for the list! I'll begin looking through those cities!
By the way, do you really think life is a hologram? Cause I just heard a parapsychologist say something similar. I recall a book by the late Michael Talbot called The Holographic Universe that is fantastic. Here's an interview with him. https://youtu.be/6rgYz_BU2Ew
I do not, in fact I don't even remember why I picked the username lol. But I'll check out the link!
So far in my preliminary research, I was looking at Texas, Oklahoma, and West Virginia.
I'm leaning towards Oklahoma, since it appears to tick more "city features" for me, but seems more conservative than Texas. And they still have some "city" things like the NBA. As annoying as the NBA leadership is, I still like following it.
Go to Texas, your votes are needed more there. The outskirts of any of the major cities are red areas
Thank you for the tip!
Wow thank you for the informative post. Very helpful tips, I didn't even think to look at those indicators, but it makes sense!
That's true. I'm trying to find a compromise between a city and rural area. Something with some convenience of a city (availability of goods and services).
