Couldn't agree more with that expressed sentiment to never look back at the middle east again once its in the rear-view mirror. Oil independence is a great thing. Without oil the last utility the region has is shipping through the Strait of Hormuz / Suez Canal which to be fair is significant & wont be going away as an incentive in keeping things stable any time soon. But does the US really need europe to middle-east shipping to be efficient and viable? Not as much as the eurocrats do, so maybe they can pay for it.

I think the sunnis are the ones who want us out, because it creates more space for ISIS to come back. Shia are the minority and would've preferred we stay.
