What could we do to encourage family and friends / first time buyers to arm themselves. Any sites or good go to places to nudge others over too?
Such as parents guide to introducing teens into firearms and the importance and value of treating this right with respect.
Ways to just overall get loved ones to arm themselves before life teaches them the hard lesson of better to have and not need than need and not have.

Single shot rifle of a small caliber is a great way to get kids into it and is pretty safe. Low kick from a .22 as well.

Then larger rifles as they grow.

I would not recommend handguns or shotguns to first time users, as they have a bit more kick and people tend to overact when it kicks, which means it can kick really hard (because people act like in the films, they dont always fully realize that guns cause it themselves).

For first time buyers, a cheap smaller caliber rifle is a way to get used to it, especially since the ammo isn't that expensive, but larger rifles are always fun.

But personally? M16's all the way (I'm a sucker for the traditional stuff). Or AR-15, because they're so fucking diverse that it is insane.

Invite friends/family to the range with you. Show them that it is a safe, fun, responsible, and empowering activity. I have brought MANY people to the range with me and I have never heard from any of them that they didn't enjoy themselves. Not everyone I take will become a gun owner, but there are people (liberals) who have had their minds changed about the gun community and gun laws after I have taken them out.

I've been encouraging friends to do an AR build. In compliance with law, it's an 80% lower but I have a drill press and jigs ready to go.

I offer to pay for the lower when they join me. They get to build, have beers during the build process with me and homies. At the end, it's theirs for a "better to have, than not have situation" that is literally not functioning so the state (no matter how bs) or a concerned spouse or family member might be, but it's also a couple hours of milling away from a 1776 situation.

I'd never touched a gun in my life until about a week ago, when I went to a gun range and had a great time. I'm very sensitive to loud noises, so I was a little intimidated hearing the gunshots. After while, I got used to it and had an afternoon I'll never forget.

combine ear plugs with earmuffs if the noise is still to loud for your ears with just earmuffs.
