Wasn't Gab threatened with delisting if they didn't delete some "tweets" their host didn't like?
I vaguely recall the tweets being pro-nazi or anti-semitic, so definitely not my cup of tea, but stupid ideas seem pretty far from law breaking.
In theory, but hosting a website (and keeping it online in the face of attacks and whatnot) requires infrastructure that you can't just up and build yourself. And even if you could, you're still hostage to the whims of your ISP because someone has to connect you to the internet and I don't suppose you are laying the cables yourself.
