I would like to see a proper Senate investigation where they could call the witnesses they want and the Dems could call upon they witnesses they used in the House hearing. Those witnesses were enough for the Dems to urgently vote for impeachment so they should suffice.
Having the impeachment fiasco not advance to the next stage is a win for the Dems. They can say the Reps shielded Trump from justice because they have a majority in the Senate. I'd look at that as an effective election platform too. "Let's win back the Senate and fix the two-justice system."
