Virginia Beach has a very large military/veteran community.
I stayed beachside at the Hilton there once and got a discount because military jets were doing low-level passes over the beach the entire weekend.
It didn't bother me - way too many deployments under my belt so the absence of military aircraft in the sky unnerves me.
I lived in VA beach in the 80's. Our house was close to to oceana's approach. Sometimes you could see the pilot's helmet when they came over. At first it was a pain in the ass with 3 young kids. After a while it just felt like freedom.
Well Virginia Beach is home to Naval Air Station Oceana so it’s a military town. And they have jets flying over the beach basically every day. Not sure when you visited but I’ve been there on vacation a couple times the past few years and it’s normal. Even stayed at that Hilton the first time and no discount because it’s just life there lol. I liked it, too.
I choose Virginia Beach for my vacations precisely because I get to see the impressive show of force that is our military. I love relaxing on the beach listening to jets and helicopters fly over and seeing our mighty naval ships heading out and entering Cheasapeake Bay. ‘Murica ??❤️?
