Entertaining it would be like if I went to a court and said "Aliens from planet Jubliee flew down on dinosaurs and raped me using giant bananas! So I'm suing for 15 gublegorks!" and them going "We'll have a trial on Monday!" instead of what they should say: "Security!"

Agreed. This is a golden opportunity to absolutely savage the Dems. If Turtle & Co. dismiss this they'll turn it into a victory them. It'll make it look like Trump escaped justice because the Reps have control of the Senate. Terrible optics for Trump. I'll be p.o.ed if Turtle turtles.
An impeachment trial is what the Democrats want, that's why they impeached him in the first place.
Start a separate investigation of Biden and crew if you want to "hold their feet to the fire". Putting Trump on trial again is not the way to do this.
The Democrats failed to convince the American people that there is any there there, and Nancy pelosi is only furthered the appearance that these articles are flimsy and political with her delay. her blunder is a gift to us and the best way to take advantage of this is to simply dismiss them without trial.
For normies who won't watch any of this s*** anyway, holding the trial will merely grant the articles of impeachment the appearance of legitimacy again. And unless the Republicans agree to let the Democrats hear 50 thousand witnesses denounce Trump and then proceed to convict, the press will create the bad optics of an "unfair process."
There is no way around it the press will call it unfair, the supposedly bad optics that you were worried about are inevitable. this is the time to cut the Democrats off that will cause the least damage in that regard.
McConnell decides who gets called as witnessses. Call Ciaramella, Hunter and Joe Biden. Thats all, then vote. Nothing else needed.
Hell if that's all he does I think that would be hilarious.
Of course nobody would comply with the subpoenas, which would only add to the circus atmosphere surrounding all of this. But so much the better.
