He's the existential threat to Trump's capitalistic, 1%-friendly economic policies. Our system is going gangbusters, true. And, if you were doing well before, you're doing really, really well now. But, for those of us that have been suffering for decades and had pretty much given up hope...y'know, it's better. It's much better. But, it's not the miracle some were expecting. I remember Trump saying he'd "look at" raising taxes on the 1%. I really thought he'd bring most of the troops home and somehow, someway take the TRILLIONS we spend fixing other countries and use even HALF ...even 1.25 TRILLION to fund training for unemployed Americans. Regardless of race.
That's the big thorn in Democrat promises of helping the unskilled in America. That 90% of that investment is going to minorities who already have soo many programs and scholarships at their disposal. If you're even willing to show up and just be an average student, with a STEM major, and you're black, Hispanic...sheeet, from what my Biology professor told me, "there's soo much money for you all! Go down to the Biology department and just ask! You really don't have to worry about money!" (When I was excited, as one of the top three in that class, and asked for more details, he literally told me, "oh, not you. You're white.") Shortly after that, the stress of working FT and maintaining my grades led me to "taking a break from school for a semester". And that break has now been 15 years. Poor me, huh?
Anyways, most of the job growth, let's not lie to ourselves here, is in really, really shitty retail and minimum wage jobs. For those of us over a certain age, getting our asses out there and digging ditches for 3 or 4 years as a paid apprenticeship (for one of those dangerous blue-collar jobs that I see lauded on this and T_D all the time) just isn't going to work.
And, really, who wants to do something relatively boring like plumbing or carpentry when people are getting paid lotsa money to bullshit about race, gender and make-believe shit? lol, I jest but honestly would much rather think for a living than risk being electrocuted. I had a 4.0 GPA before running out of funds, not being born the right color and all, 1 1/2 years into getting a Biology degree and studying the brain. Hell, that was 15 years ago, though.
Anyhow, we'll need to present a better rejoinder to Beanie Sandals than just some weird Hispanic dude eating garbage icing. Seriously. If he wins we're going to have our work cut out for us.
