Certainly true, but we are able to slightly overpass the fake news. Any sign that we were the aggressors and even those avenues close off. It's better to wait for the moment we are attacked to strike back and try to spread the word despite resistance from the Left over striking first and not being able to defend our position as easily. They attacked us is an easier argument than we thought they were going to attack us. Any control on optics we can get will be vital should/when the time for arms arrives since it'll help our cause gain support in the short/long term. In the meantime, we need to strengthen our means of getting the word out as much as humanly possible.
