It's all about lock-stepping (or goose-stepping.) I do believe some of these people unconsciously know they're saying crazy anti-democratic shit. They push their bad conscience into their unconscious out of terror of being "downvoted" or banned by their peer group for wrongthink. Whereas you get the dopamine-rush of upvotes from your Starbucks buddies if you virtue-signal and push the woke envelope.
