Weaponizing psychiatry to punish dissidents was common in the USSR. "Punitive medicine," to quote the title of a book on the subject. Not just forced evaluations and incapacitating "psychiatric" medicines, but indefinite confinement in a hospital-prison.

Funny it's called a "Red" Flag law, isn't it.
