I'll never understand why good people in power go along with what they know is wrong. By this I mean I don't understand why the police haven't shot the corrupt mayor dead. The person is willfully starving their own people.
There are english subtitles available if you enable them. This cop calls out the governor Rosello and Carmen Yulin, mayor of San Juan. Rosello was forced out of office after a private chat group log was leaked where he insulted a lot of people.
Carmen Yulin is running for governor in the next election. Puerto Rico needs help badly.
Yep, we all knew what was going on as it was happening during the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, while the majority of Reddit is just now learning about this 2-3 years later.
Seems like it's the people in charge. I wouldn't write off Puerto Rico just yet, don't get me wrong I don't want to live with migrants coming over here they need to make their country better (and yes they should be a separate country...) they'd probably fare better if they weren't depending on us, and we can still help out when there's disaster like a good Christian nation should.. but I'm not willing to put them in Mudslime category yet.
