One thing I saw though... A lot of people running for state house and senate seats. There were a shit ton of uncontested seats the Dems just grabbed last year. People saw an opportunity... What if I ran as a NOT Democrat. Every open seat will be contested in 2020 now. I dont think Dems will hold on to power. In 2021 I think you will see a GOP Governor. Too many sat on their ass this time around. Voter turnout was like 40%. The Rally drummed up more support next time around. More people will definitely vote, more people representing the 91 some counties where voters only became engaged after they saw what lack of motivation amounted to. I could easily condemn those that sat at home, but I wont. They will be there next time around, and the Rally helped in this regard.
I didn't expect it would. As much of a joke as the term "moral victory" is, this rally was a good opportunity to show people they aren't alone and they can organize. A lot of people, especially in a state like VA think it's hopeless or they can't make a change.
This rally was to let them know that when it comes to their gun control legislation, “we will not comply”.
