It's pretty legit fear mongering if there is any. Spanish flu killed 5% worldwide from 30% infection and was the worst pandemic since the bubonic plague. It's like, that trench warfare stuff was pretty bad, but the flu really set them over the edge back in 1918, and there isn't much more we can do for viruses to this day and we live closer together.
This virus has a ~2 week incubation, which means whatever new cases we find were spreading it around for 2 weeks by the time we even hear about it. 17 were reported dead and 400 infected, so a nearly 5% death rate before the pneumonia or infections had run their course, and that is what is reported by CHINA, where we have twitter videos of probably more than 17 people dropping like flies and cracking their heads open on the pavement, which is way more than 5% fatal itself. To stop it, they would have to reduce the rate of infection by 75% of what is already going on with massive quarantines and outdoor fumigations. The only question is how fatal it really is and how much worse a pandemic is with a modern economy. None of that is some bio-weapon conspiracy theory, but you'd have a hard time designing something worse. Ebola was too virulent and fatal to spread.
If legitimate fear is based on potentials and probabilities, then you're already counting on Chinese propaganda to calm you down. Then again, it really is just a bad cold/flu virus.
I can source most of them, though I'm incredibly lazy and allergic to asterisks. Stopping the infection by reducing it by 75% is based on the rsub1 rate. Spanish flu is hindsight. I can't say it ended WW1 but it absolutely was a big deal and we have those numbers. Just consider that we assume China is telling the truth. Models based on that data are already not-so-great. The economic assumptions can be only that, so i only invited speculation there. Flu kills 80,000 yearly here, conflating it with pandemics is worthwhile. The flu is nasty business. People should raid the soup aisle either way.
I'm a numbers guy, but I can give you the common sense argument. It's making the rounds because of how much worse today's news is than yesterdays and how much worse tomorrows will be than today's. It's bad because the death toll and death rate can't go down without the occurrence of undeath and the liars are already saying it's not too good.
Fatality rate goes down with more infections, but it also means more infections. Infection rate is called morbidity. It's going to make it everywhere. The question is how full of shit China is with the severity. They are the only ones with a real sample. Any minor discrepancy would be huge because of the morbidity. I don't imagine it will be less severe than they say. Trump seems to think they are being transparent, which still makes it potentially a 100 year pandemic.
Media is OF COURSE going to blow up this issue like an atomic bomb to bury peachmints. They blow up EVERYTHING. Protect yourselves. But, be mindful of the mass hysteria that is trying to be manufactured. I.e "Zombie outbreak"
This is a flu-like disease, with a low kill rate, that is VERY infectious. The Chinese government was stupidly slow to react to it, and is now operating in panic mode, so that it's world-wide.
So, wash your hands, go to the clinic early if you develop symptoms, take care of yourself. This is not an ebola situation, because ebola was highly infections AND very deadly.
You’re right we should not let this become the Ebola situation where people went home for weddings and came home with a death bug.
We have a bug here that isn’t like the ones in the past. Not saying we got the CV. Just something very different than normal.
If people have gotten and spread the virus here in America, people just rode it out and didn’t think anything of it because it has a death rate similar to influenza and went away.
Young healthy people could contract it like the flu, but still head on into work until it was at its worst point.
Yeah the thing is they've been "researching" this virus since at least 2015 in their "level 4 ebola status" university lab. Not thinking it's just the flu here
Just like they come up with all those really well built not knockoff not stolen authentic non-counterfeit products right? Because China is smart. Really smart. And they make all breakthroughs for the whole world.
LO MOTHER-FUCKING L
Here's an idea, before we let China do baby steps research on pathogens, we tell them they need to get their hygiene in order and not run wet markets and sars markets and tell their people not to sleep on their chickens... you know, start real small. And if they can't handle it (like anything with the CCP since they fuck up everything), time to nuke them :(

I’m not going to get into all the assumptions in your post.

Wise advice.

China is lying about the infection and death rate.
My point is how is the mortality rate verified? Don't trust CDC myself.
Are you fucking kidding me???
This is all I care about right now. Confirmed case in Illinois btw
Why haven't we shut down travel w/ China?
Because the country is run by faggots. China just locked in 44 million ppl

I'm all for shutting down everything from China. I don't need an iphone or toaster made by someone who eats bats and puppies.
If this virus was an escapee from that lab, we are immensely fortunate, because the results could have been so very much worse.
Or China is lying like they always do
And then you remembered you were talking about china

Shut down travel.
But these things are coming for us, too many idiot labs and people/governments with their damn research and weapons and ...Evil is stalking the world.
So even as I say shut down travel, that won't Save us.
Pray for Humanity.
France confirms 2 cases
You must be a china man cause I`m getting the feeling your a little itsy bitsy chinky with the chi rats
Well I certainly don't buy my tinfoil hats from china. That would break in a day.
