What I got out of this video among many things is that the social safety net has completely collapsed. No 911 calls, no public transport, no EMS, no ability to transport yourself due to gas stations shut down. So, any “official” death toll will be in name only. It won’t count the people who died at home from heart attacks unable to get emergent care, etc. it will only count those who were able to get into the hospital.
What's weird is that the airport seems to be operating normally. There are a few canceled flights, but not many. https://www.flightradar24.com/airport/wuh/arrivals
Both incoming and outgoing. See the window over to the left that lists out all the flights, rather than relying on watching the yellow airplanes in the sky. Not sure the airplane representations are accurate.
I think the State Department warned on Friday to avoid travel to China, then markets dropped, and then State Department walked it back and said to just exercise caution. It's a delicate dance to keep us safe and NOT shit on the economy.
