I will give the short answer. There is a long history of Pepe and his meaning changed over time. What I think is the most important history of Pepe is when Trump was running for Presidency. At this time Free Speech was getting shut down on the Internet quicker then Bernie stealing campaign money. People rose up in Britain and voted to leave the European Union. Once that happened the people knew there was a chance for change. They pushed hard for Trump by expressing their right for free speech in what ever form possible. The controlling ‘elite’ people directed the MSM to ban accounts, censor content and ruin people’s careers if content was produced that contradicted their ideals. Americans could sense the iron curtain was closing and knew Trump was on their side fighting to keep the Idea of America alive before the World Elite’s killed it forever. Hate speech was birthed and loosely defined so the MSM could decided what content to sensor.... which was any content that supported the Freedoms America was founded on. MSM designed ‘Bots’ that would scan text from people’s post and either immediately censor your post or the bot would respond to your post calling you racist or a conspiracist spreading lies. The bots where doing a good job of catching key words and shutting down posts almost instantly. Other people never had a chance to read them and ‘wake up’ to some truth. This is when Pepe really took off and became the meme mascot I guess, I think in 2016... the first great meme war lol.... I mean kek. MSM tried their best to ban Pepe. The bots could scan text but had a much harder time scanning a newly created meme full of truthful red pills our attention deficit society could absorb at a quick glance. Hence The Great Meme War. Pepe was used to mock the censorship and was recreated so many different memeingful ways, kek. Pepe dropped so many red pills even the pharmaceutical company would be jealous. Free Speech fought back hard and the iron curtain stayed open thanks to Trumps, Pepe and the millions of people memeing their little hearts outs!!! Trump and Pepe became our heroes. I hope you understand more now. There is a lot more to the Pepe story but this is the short version kek.
I had forgotten about their bot armies patrolling FB and making up 90% of some pro-Hillary FB accounts. Remember when Hillary called him a racist frog? That wasn't very nice. Also, I remember when Steve Bannon, Milo and all of us, really, considered ourselves part of The Alt-Right. https://ibb.co/9YQvdVC Then, the MSM started telling the world though a dozen headlines and articles that Richard Spencer was the main person behind the Alt-Right (because he started some dumb blog that nobody had been to before?) and anyways the MSm fed the white nationalists a ton of oxygen to just claim they were the entire movement and reason Trump got elected. And, like nubs, they fell for the easy fame and went for it and fucked the rest of us out of a name under which to organize. That was the first real set back for T_D. And a huge disappointment. Watching everyone flee from the name that we'd been using for months. "No, we're not alt-right! I don't know what you're talking about!!" etc. Were they shills or true blue pedes saying that? Who knows. But the sub turned on the name and we lost a TON of momentum right there. We were called, if anything, "Alt-Lite", ffs. What kind of shit-tier name is that? Like Nazi-Lite. Ugh. All because we didn't want to be called a mean name. Also, and this is still an issue, though much much less than it used to be, it happened because we didn't have the media to fight back with. Media is the #1 issue we're facing today. Breitbart was right. Bannon knows it. Trump knows it. It's literally an Information War going on.
BTW, I hear there's a movie coming out with Pepe creator Matt Furie, soon.

Good stuff! I wish i had more time to reply to stuff but i am a busy guy and want to spark a conversation for the most part. Yeah the whole Alt-Right thing was just a label to put us in a box. I never agreed with labels. They use labels so they can tell us how to think. It’s like calling someone White. White doesn’t have a history. Italians, Swedish, Hungarians, Germans, Russian, Irish... etc, all have separate histories. Saying White is putting them all in one basket and erasing their history so it can be re-written.
It would be great if Trump had big Pepe posters on stage when he makes his election night victory speech.
