Because they "don't want to overshadow the Iowa caucus on Monday"? What a B¥!!$#!+ excuse!! Now GEOTUS is forced to give the SOTU with a cloud over his head.
I read that R's "made a compromise to hold the vote on Wednesday"... Why compromise? What is the leverage? Maybe someone who has had the time to follow this closely can fill me in.
The program seems to be that Senators wish to pontificate now, that's how Senators earn their paychecks, by pontificating.
If you remember back to the opening of the trial in the Senate ChuckU Schumer read a bunch of proposed amendments and procedural requests for hearings and documentation presentations and such into the record, Mitch then delayed those until now. So those will need to be resolved, requires much bloviating and soapboxing to git'r'done. Any 'compromise' would be settling all those, and allowing all Senators wishing to apply their own stamp of approval/disagreement upon this historic thing time to strike a pose for a moment.
