It's because he is Mormon. Mormons are fiercely loyal to their own kind, so much so, it can be a detriment.

Mormons are a sleeper cell that only serve their own interests. Sounds bad to say but it's true, their Church will always guide them and take precedence over what is right or good for the country.

Completely agree. With how it's structured, the leadership still has a lot of direct influence over what church members will do.

This is not true for other religions, not even with Catholics and the Pope. It's not even close.

Add that with Mormonism being a very strategic and PR heavy organization, it's not unlikely that in the future the LDS church becomes an SJW corporatized religion no different than many corporations like Alphabet, etc today.
