I was a first time voter in 2016, and a liberal back then. Like so many others, I voted for Trump out of protest of the DNC screwing Bernie, and never looked back cause Trump turned out to be a MUCH better president than I expected.

Should I switch my party to Republican before the election, or just not bother cause it won't matter?

If you are in CA and a decline to state voter, you can request a Democratic ballot for the March 3 primary and feel the Bern again.

Then jump on the Trump Train in 11/2020.

Yes. You might have a local primary race. Register as a Republican then try and go to a Republican Club. Find out who is the chairman of Republican Party Committee in your town and county. Introduce yourself. Tell them why you have become a Republican. You will be welcomed. I was a democrat (sort of born into it) and changed to a Republican. I am a conservationist too as are most of the Republicans I know.
