There's different flavors of socialism (DemocratsicSocialists of America even admit that Bernie Sanders isn't a real socialist)...but, generally and historically speaking, it works best in small, homogeneous cultures where people feel a sense of connection to the people their taxes are going towards.
It comes down to equal outcome VS equal opportunity. All flavors of socialism end in equal outcome. Said outcome has never, in the history of socialism, been favorable to the opportunities created by capitalism. Ever. Ignoring the caveats of private property, progressivism is socialism, socialism is communism, communism is death and despair.
Went there last year with my wife and daughter, just for a weekend, found a airBAndB host, when the taxi got us to his place it looked like total Slumville, multicolored iron doors and locks, police cars lit up across the street, every standing on their balconies watching the show. We called our host, he met us , we go into a sketchy ass apartment complex, and he opens a door,.... and holy shit, it's nice! Mama is cooking food for us, Papa is offers some rum, felt really safe. Had a wonderful time. Cuban people are awesome, I was freaking for a while because everywhere you look, beautiful Victorian architecture is just crumbling, literally, our host said apartment buildings will just cave in on themselves in the middle of the night killing all the families inside, so sad, when we got there, his family hadn't been able to buy eggs for a Fuckin Month. I highly advocate taking a field trip to Cuba via B AND B just to see what SOCIALISM has done to one of the richest countries of the world, go see the beautiful old Chevy Bell Air's that run with a Frankenfit Perkins 3 cylinder Diesel. Stopped eating out as passersby stared at ou plates of food, sad. Customs reminds me of Kadafi's beautiful women Guards. A bunch a Hotties in shorts, crazy... easy to go, fill out customs shit right at the USA airport terminal, prepare for a long ass line coming back into the USA, do yourself a favor a get the Global clearance, UNLESS YOU'RE FROM NEW YORK ?????
I never thought about the fact that If you eat out in public basserbys will stop and stare at your plate. Sounds heart wrenching really. Thanks for the insight.
