Even if he was kicked out of the army, the fact that he was brazen enough to do that and thought he could get away with it is evidence of heavy socialist infiltration in the U.S. Armed Forces. It means he thought he had a support network.
I would hate to see the outcome of 50% of the military vs the other 50%. There wouldn't be much left worth fighting for in the end. All of the carnage of the civil war with modern conventional weapons?
Where 2% of the population were killed with black powder percussion cap rifles, bayonets, and cannons. Where the disease alone killed over 50,000. There were 650,000 dead in all when there were 10 times fewer people than today.
I would guess 50-150 million would die in a multi-year scenario with only modern conventional weapons (no nukes) and I am being generous.
The cities would be the most heavily contested areas, many citizens would flee the cities and many would die of starvation and disease, food transport would be completely disrupted so those in the suburbs would also suffer from starvation. The lucky/unlucky ones in rural areas would be pillaged by the desperate urban and suburban refugees.
I could go on and on. Power, Communications, Transport..etc. The number of people that would freeze to death would be enormous. We are nowhere near as self-reliant as even the urbanites of the 1860s.
All assuming other countries won't get involved and we all know they would.

Anyone who thinks the American people can’t revolt because of some drones is off their rocker. Infrastructure isn’t that secure, the military isn’t that numerous, targets aren’t that obvious, and our leaders don’t have body doubles and body doubles for their families and dozens of secured palaces to hide in.

First, the military is made up of AMERICANS and not automatons. A situation that is dire enough for revolution will be made up of significant portions of the military or else it would fail. The political upper echelons may have to go, but those who actually use the weapons are historically based.
