hey Joe, those F-15s have to land. Turns out they are very vulnerable when parked wingtip to wingtip on a taxi way. Perhaps not an AK, but a scoped M82 drilling half inch holes through the avionics computer from a mile away could disable the lot.
Oh and those M1 Abrams tanks, they can operate for about four hours before they need to refuel. You know from those big tanker trucks that don't react well to getting shot at.
So you see all those fancy, high tech, weapons only work when you have a secure rear area to base them out of.
