As long as people assimilate, there is no issue. Only is it a problem when people bring their culture along with them with no intention of conforming to pre-established social norms. It is very possible to share your culture while also acclimating to societal expectations of how to act and what to respect.
Culture and nationalism are not mutually exclusive, and respecting the country that took you in, the one you chose to escape to, just enough to at least be cordial and aware of differences in philosophy should be a must in the vetting process.
