One last comment, the problem with electors comes not with the binding of them to their vote, but rather to assigning them as electors. Liberal state bureaucracies will assign liberal electors to the college regardless of the outcome of the state's popular vote. I am surprised, given the mindset of the Democratic party now, they don't just do this anyway. (For example, should Trump win Minnesota, a state dominated by the left, what would prevent the bureaucrats from just assigning whoever they want to the college, and using a justification of the popular vote as an excuse?)
