For the DS, a “good guy” is someone who will abuse their position for “the cause”. That’s why we have Senators encouraging people to enter our country illegally, talking to Iran, and desperately trying to keep Joe Biden from being investigated, for example.
They expected to get rewarded handsomely for their job - not because they followed the law, anyone can do that - but because they didn’t follow the law, always and only in ways to help Hillary.
That’s why pandemonium set in after the election. Anarchy was seen as the only way left to keep “the cause” alive and the secrets buried.
A few secrets have come our. But frankly at this point their plan has worked reasonably well. No prosecutions. Only a few fringe things revealed.
Round of handshakes, some back-slaps, a bit of reminiscing between permanent state good ol' boys, "Just going through the motions, John, something to look good for the people, give them a bit of hope, haha. Pathetic, aren't they?" Just gotta wait out this presidency and they are back to business as usual. "This election nonsense is all so tiresome. At least this will be the last time we're surprised by the outcome." Scrutiny over, case closed.

I think it's helpful to remember that these are FBI and CIA agents being investigated.
It's literally their job to know how criminals cover their tracks - it could take a while to prove wrongdoing.
So he gets arrested, thrown under the bus, conservatives get a crumb, and everything returns to normal, is that it?
