For those too lazy to read, this is NOT advocating tobacco use as a cure. There have been very successful vaccines created using tobacco leaves as expression vectors for antibodies to specific pathogens. There is a large advantage to using plant vectors over the avian-ovo vectors, because if a mistake is made (i.e. the anticipated flu virus for flu season is significantly different) the plant solution can be corrected in time to produce large numbers of vaccines during an applicable time frame, opposed to having a "too little, too late" attitude. Tobacco leaves are characteristically large and grow quickly, making them an ideal plant for specific protein expression after a gene of interest is introduced.

This method has been successfully used to create a therapeutic vaccine (i.e. a cure, not prevention) for EBOLA. There has been significant pushback from established vaccine manufacturers from allowing this method to flourish.

This seems a valid observation. I take the View from the fact I used tobacco to worm out all of my horses. And it worked, with out the Big Pharma poison.

There's been talk about the virus having an Asian bias. More likely the massive air pollution for decades has made the impact-risk of pneumonia far greater.

Smoking doesn't help pneumonia either, but hey knock yourself out. Literally. More room and stuff for the survivors. Politico is such a great news source.

It's killer.

So far only anti-AIDS cocktails have had any effect on the man-made Wu-Flu (in fact it's the AIDS spliced bits that are a dead giveaway on its being manufactured - emphasis on dead). If the manufacture of those cocktails are involved with tobacco, go nuts. I'm not aware that's the case.

Oh, c'mon, Atari, please do not willfully misread an innocuous comment. Oomu is talking about a vaccine, not a drug cocktail. Those are very different approaches. We want both.

Don't get too invested in this, or too offended. Some of these people are non-readers.

Tobacco plants grow fast and big, and the growers know a whole lot about the plant's internal mechanisms. It could be a useful platform, and easily geared up for large-scale production.

Also, this is an industry that has very valuable resources and knowledge, but a severely declining market share for its original products. They need to find another way to be useful.

I saw data that smokers are much more likely to contract this virus last week. "Peak Prosperity" on youtube had the data set in one of his presentations. I urge you all to check it out, the Chinese are lying about the numbers.
