The math doesn’t work on her argument. She claims that “hundreds of thousands could lose benefits” and that they are “averaging roughly $1200 a month”.

The program expects to save $2.6 billion over 10 years. That’s approximately $260 million per year. So if a beneficiary gets $14.4 thousand a year, just 20,000 beneficiaries puts you over the $260 million mark.

There is a lower disability level of $536 per month stated in the article. It’s unclear what the difference is, but let’s say everyone received this lower rate. This is about $6.4 thousand a year. Only about 40,000 people would need to be cut to hit the $260 million cap.

So she is lying or uninformed about “hundreds of thousands” losing benefits. It appears to be 20 - 40 thousand. Also, she provides no details, and appears to base everything off of some program implemented during the Reagan era. This one is clearly different, as the math shows.

Being devoid of the important details of what the program does, and given that the math simply doesn’t add up, this article is clearly FAKE NEWS.
