The other solution would have been to leave them in Japan, which is quickly getting very overwhelmed w/ COVID-19 cases and will soon be in the same plight as China, too many sick people and not enough medical staff/supplies to care for them. All of the people evac-ed on the plane went to a quarantine center on a military base in the US, something that this article conveniently seems to leave out. I'm more concerned about situations like the idiot acquaintances of mine from Utah who are blithely touring around Singapore and Thailand, poo-pooing the idea of wearing masks. So if you see 2 cases of COVID-19 popping up in Utah in a few weeks, that's why.
For what it's worth most of the people in the photo of the infected are old. Also, headline says alongside, but they were in a cargo plane, not a passenger plane, and in a closed off section of the plane.
This is weird, because I saw videos of State Department evacuees being flown back (full spacesuits and all). At the time of extraction, there was no way to tell who was a carrier and who was not — they all had to be presumed to be carriers for at least 14 days.
What should the State Department have done? Leave them on foreign soil to die in some 3rd world class hospital?
And it now looks like, from what little is filtering out of China, that even the biohazard suits are failing! There are reports of doctors dying who were interacting with patients while wearing full biohazard gear. If true, that is terrifying.
I think this may become a WW pandemic, and that was the plan. Would anyone here put it past our slave masters to perpetrate such evil just to hold onto their power, by collapsing economies, governments (and despised presidents)? I certainly wouldn't.
China was so low on supplies that medical personnel were using plastic trash bags to protect themselves when PPEs ran out. That could be why they are getting sick. Overworked, and not enough supplies/PPEs.
