I have a friend exactly the same way. In his case, he has some rather deep “mother issue”. His mother hated Obama and loves Trump so he must be the opposite. But evidence filters in such as Trump getting elected which indicates that he is wrong. He is wrong about a lot of things but he doesn’t want to wake up and admit that his entire life has been misdirected and wasted.

This isn’t a guy in his 20s or 30s. He is in his late 60s.
