Unfortunately, bread mold CAN kill you, it has been known to happen; not all of it is safe. Just so you know. I wouldn't want anyone to kill themdelves.

https://www.livestrong.com/article/443512-risk-of-eating-moldy-bread/

Quote from linked article: "There is no guarantee that only one particular chain or type of mold grows on bread. Jackson Kung'u, a microbiologist from the Mycological Society of America, notes multiple cases where humans have eaten moldy bread and either became ill or died from doing so . . . Depending on the type of mold growing on the bread, you may develop food poisoning or a dangerous food-borne disease. Some of these food-borne illnesses, such as salmonella, can be treated and cured, while others, such as Stachybotrys chartarum, can cause irritation of your mouth, nose and throat and lead to shock, hemorrhage, dermal necrosis and death." (Emphasis added)

Another thing the article points out is, by the time you see the mold, chances are the entire piece or loaf is riddled by spores you can't see. Always throw all of it away.

Well, actually, you should be buying cantaloupe, then. The mold strain that was used to produce most penicillin in the U.S., at least back in the day, was from a spot of mold on a cantaloupe bought in Chicago.
