Homeland Security is a department that never should have happened. Born out of the hysteria of 9-11, evidence is the mechanism was in place before the 9-11 event, just waiting for the excuse to actuate to happen. The should mean, should 9-11 turn out to be fraudulent, then DHS just might be thrown out along with the bath water.

OK but WHY would you WANT that?
Because fear among the population drives industry--it causes people to buy more stuff... Most importantly, private security (mass surveillance) services by teh US government...secondarily...Medicine for their anxiety, depression. Therapy for the same. Hospital visits. Penis pills for the impotence and ED created by feelings of powerlessness in a system where you're under constant fear and dread. Hoarding behavior--we're all prepping for SOMETHING at some level. Having a feeling of dread inspires peaks of YOLO, carpe diem, and stimulates sensation seeking---sex, drugs, going to restaurants, being a spendthrift; moving to gated communities; moving around a lot and all the costs of doing that.
But MOST of all, people demand that gov provide them security. So having terrorism means you need
