Don't forget to stock up on batteries and bullets too , people get crazy when food runs out.

FYI for ALL occasions, buy ammo w/ cash when possible, especially in large quantity ?

1
TheGunFairy 1 point ago +1 / -0

Better yet reload. It is easy fun and makes ammo almost free. I come back from the range with more brass then I shoot every time and it nearly all gets reloaded.

Prudence not panic.

It is certainly good advice to have some extra cans, and boxes of pasta and that kind of durable things around, in mouse-proof containers. No harm in stocking up a little on meds you usually use, vitamins, cleaning supplies, baby supplies, lady supplies, pet supplies. Not to big extremes, but sure, why not. Everything, including paper supplies, in mouse proof containers.

Thoughtful and stable brilliance; it's not time to panic in Dallas. Other places I can't speak to but there is no panic here.

My personal opinion is a lot of handwashing, and prudence like not sharing towels, and general cleanliness in the toilet, and NOT STRESSING will help. As far as I can tell it does not kill everybody. Lots of people won't get it at all, lots of people will get it and get better. Stress does not help one little bit, with this.

Being clean, fed, with good morale, being calm, would be good.

Why would a vigorous young, or young ish, Chinese doctor, trained and equipped, die of it? Stress, and repeated exposure. But stress is a big factor, just in my opinion. Overwork, lack of sleep.

Panic will actually physically hurt you, so I would say not to do that.

My private uneducated opinion based on nothing is I would concentrate more on supporting getting over it, than on not getting it. Obviously we try to not get it. But let us be in a position to get over it.

I am no professional.

Prudence is good.

I remark that the US produces its own food, has salt deposits, has its own oil in abundance, has many waterways.

It would not be stupid to ponder gardening websites and figure out if any sunny patches where you live can produce food. "Home Grown Veg" is a Youtube channel about a Scotsman who makes interesting things happen in ten-inch buckets, such as carrots and potatoes. Spring is coming. There are many suppliers, such as Baker Creek among many others. Everything is on Amazon, soil, containers, all of it.

Not sunlight. That you need.

Even that can be bought, in lamps, but sunlight is the main thing.

NOT so fast ... many if not most of the agriculture chemical components are manufactured in china e.g. you can't go to India, Mexico or other countries to get the stuff needed for farming

HungNavySeal300Kills 8 points ago +8 / -0

Exactly, none of the Chinese health workers are working less than 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.

5
Verrerogo 5 points ago +5 / -0

Well they are brave.

But we aren't in their position so we should try to keep stress and panic down. You can literally make yourself sick that way.

14 confirmed cases in the USA.

10
Verrerogo 10 points ago +10 / -0

That has been a stable number for a while. Those are people who came into the country with it. I am not seeing transmission inside the US.

But I am no professional and know nothing.

Let us aim, mentally, for July 4. We will know what's up by then.

8
Verrerogo 8 points ago +8 / -0

Then by July 4 I will be beyond that. Lockdown isn't forever. Outbreaks run their course. But your counsel is valid. Yes let us have supplies on hand.

7
deleted 7 points ago +8 / -1
10
Verrerogo 10 points ago +10 / -0

Yes. And of course there will be transmissions. But so far it seems to be people who caught it elsewhere not at home. That number 35 isn't soaring up.

We will see. Meanwhile your suggestions are good. And anything people buy can be used up anyway in the normal course of things. Soup, cans, rice, pasta, all that stuff lasts a long time. Nobody will waste money on it.

We aren't anti-corona shills. We are rational people that understand that 35 cases without proven spreading isn't something to worry about. There where 35 cases of flu at my wives school just last week...

We're just trying to say there is no reason to freak out about this at this point.

3
Lemongrass5 3 points ago +3 / -0

China is straight up kidnapping people on the streets, but yeah no need to panic.

I heard the vulnerable are people who had the sars vaccine. Some talking head made the connection on a news show. Sorry no other source so just seeing if anyone else heard anything like that.

Always a good idea. Whether it be a natural disaster, social unrest, or a Chicom-created super virus, grocery stores only keep a few day's worth of inventory in stock. Personally I keep a few months worth of shelf-stable human food on hand (normal stuff we eat anyway) and pet food, and rotate through it so it's never old. Also a good stack of firewood for the wood stove, lamp oil and lamps, batteries, etc. Guns and ammo, of course. I'm not in very good shape for water though. Need to work on that.

It's unbelievably infectious. I have never seen anything like this in 65+ years. It's not as deadly as the 1918 Flu, but at least as infectious. It is apparently airborne. In addition to food and water, buy Vick's Vaporub, and Mullein Tea for the lungs.

I've been following this as well. Follow Dr. Eric Feigl-Ding on Twitter for solid, up to date info. Someone here suggested him at the beginning--my thanks to you for that. Another comment here---> the Johns Hopkins page, has regular updates on cases, deaths and recoveries by country. https://gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6 I've been talking about this damn virus til I'm blue in the face, and few people have listened. I expect that it will be declared a pandemic within the next couple days, and THEN people will panic.

Stock up on paper goods. The raw ingredients for many medications come from China, so stock up on OTC drugs, vitamins, supplements. If you're on prescription meds, try to get a few extra mos if you can. Someone else mentioned mullein tea; also tinctures--this helps w/ breathing. Get an inexpensive vaporizer. Early on on Twitter I suggested stocking up on canned goods--got bashed for that. Uh huh. Disposable glove, antiseptic wipes, masks if you can find them anymore.

So very glad that a good friend got me started on SHTF prepping several years ago.

nothingberg 4 points ago +4 / -0

Already there. I saw a dude in a mask today at Ingles (our shit grocery store chain in NC). I thought, at least it wasn't a water bottle over his face

But here's the thing: maybe he doesn't know that it can get into your EYES, that's why the chinese have waterbottleheads

You pretty much need a full face shield if you are serious

They say

    1. Wash your hands A LOT
    1. Use the hand sanitizer (I'm finally doing this)
    1. at grocery stores if they offer sanitizer wipes, USE THEM on the carts
    1. GET CANS
    1. Evaporated milk is very handy
    1. Get 1 Month worth of food or more
    1. Buy stuff you will USE, in case it passes
    1. Buy Candles and batteries
    1. Woudlnt' hurt to get an all band radio / sw
    1. Get a gravity filter for water. I recommend the ones for hiking, platypus, sawyer are both very good. Infowars ALEXAPURE (berkey filter) for a more permanent one. The Alexapure was as good or better than the best berkey
    1. Get a Sawyer LIFE STRAW for every person in your family
    1. Cheese if unopened lasts a long time. Get a bunch of small blocks rather than a big block
    1. Stock up on oil of oregano pills, vitamin C and selenium if you get sick
    1. Follow THIS NUTRITIONAL PROTOCOL to keep your immune system healthy

Does anyone on this board have any way to contact anyone one in the President’s administration? The CDC is dropping the ball big time, other countries are testing 10000+ and the CDC has been fumbling around with testing, refusing to test, and refusing to isolate after positive tests according to several peop,e on Twitter. In their press briefing they said they are not going to test American to American transmission. I don’t know if this is complete incompetence or if the CDC is trying to make this President Trump’s “Katrina”. Please read this CDC update today under “What May Happen” . https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/summary.html It appears they plan to do nothing, but let it run its course.”

According to a chan anon who posted back on Jan 1st, they were planning all along on using Italy as a quarantine testing grounds. Now here we are in February, and it's happening.

He said the stock market is going to absolutely tank in March. Put your money in medical and plastics companies, if you care about this sort of thing. These are going to soar.

Or you can place puts on the rest of the market for this time frame.

The $ is going to tank for a full year, if not 2, because the US economy is so closely tied with China. Europe/the Eurodollar is not. Wall street is already divesting and buying Euros in preparation...or at least those in the know are.

This could be a short-term, painful way to completely divest from China, but the rich are going to get richer and a federal blockchain currency is waiting in the wings. (Google it.)

This is biblical, folks. Time to wake up.

The problem with investing is the whole world is doing it. So where does the entire world invest when a global shock occurs? The US.

I'm not going to sell until a socialist takes power. Any economic slowdown is just an opportunity to buy.
