The truth is, McConnell is getting these nominations through because he and Trump are pushing competent jurists. That is, people with experience, who demonstrably know how to write an impartial judicial opinion. These nominations are proceeding quickly, because moderate Democrats refuse to support the foolishness of Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi, and can find no reason to object to these people who are also plainly apolitical.
Just a couple of years ago they were telling us there was no such thing as an “Obama judge” (etc). They were all perfectly neutral arbiters of Justice.
It’s been a slow and silent transformation. Trump will wag the dog by Tweeting something that will consume the media for days, then replace a judge or pass legislation or trade agreement. Media misses the event. Rinse & repeat.
