do you say the pledge at least every morning? if not, why not? you have at least one flag at home, right?
feel the words as you say them.
one of my interpretations/elaborations below:
I pledge allegiance to the flag
this is setting you, the pledger, as first person when giving the rest of the oath. you should be facing a flag so the "I" has personal meaning.
of the united states of America
greatest country in the world.
and to the republic
I pledge to uphold the ideals set upon the founding of this great nation. to live my life towards the spread and preservation of freedom
for which it stands: one nation
united we are strong. I am pledging to see every citizen as my brother or sister. that, as a society, we are all one team
under GOD
the big G man. pledging to recognize and live God's plan. recognition that no creation of man, not even the government, can ever be equal to or greater than God.
indivisible
united. where we go one, we go all.
with liberty and justice for all
freedom. pledge to be free and spread the ideals of freedom through your acts throughout the day.
understand that this is a government by the people. in return for authority, the government promises the enforced rule of law. justice for the wicked. you are pledging to ensure justice flows its course.
and of course, you are pledging to do all of the above to all. friend and foe, both.
