Friends I need your help building a timeline of what has happened to the_donald subreddit. I know some of you are the best researchers on the internet!

I have radio hosts who are willing to speak out and hopefully use their network to spread this story enough to get to bigger news outlets like tucker.

Help me build a timeline and additional info about spez and what is happening with free speech on reddit and the_Donald. When it got quarantined and censored. Quote and link to the spez post about influencing elections. When/who Chinese companies invested into reddit and went full commie. How the platform allows leftist propaganda and child porn and all the horrible shit that should be removed but isn’t.

I need to be able to provide dates and cite references so These guys are standing on solid ground to push the story.

I want to spread this message as far and wide as possible this is beyond the Russia election hoax because this is real censorship in real time.

Help get this out so we can find our best researchers who have tracked all this info. Help get this out in time to get public eyes on the_donald and bring more people to this website.

Thank you in advance for your help! Let’s win this war for the mind of the people!

I’m posting this in a few threads- not to spam but to collect info quickly. Can and will delete them once I’ve compiled more info to pass forward. Thank you for your help in advance.

In case you're hunting for it, here's the HuffPost article detailing the Spez fiasco

And Spez's Full post apology on Reddit:

Article from the New Yorker on the background of Reddit and events leading up to the incident and background on the whole mentality of Reddit on r/the_donald:

http://archive.is/5RYq0

In July, 2015, he returned to Reddit as C.E.O. In a post about his “top priority” in the job, he wrote, “The overwhelming majority of content on reddit comes from wonderful, creative, funny, smart, and silly communities. There is also a dark side, communities whose purpose is reprehensible, and we don’t have any obligation to support them. . . . Neither Alexis nor I created reddit to be a bastion of free speech.

Because Reddit was so small, and misbehavior relatively rare, Huffman could do most of the banning himself, on an ad-hoc basis. “It wasn’t well thought out or even articulated, really. It was ‘That guy has the N-word in his username? Fuck that.’ Delete account.”

Last Monday, the Washington Post reported that the Senate Intelligence Committee will question Reddit executives about this; the same day, Huffman admitted that the company had “found and removed a few hundred accounts” associated with Russian propaganda. (A Reddit representative told me that the company has been coöperating with congressional investigators “for months,” although they haven’t spoken about it publicly.) As in all such disinformation campaigns, the Russians did not act alone: their messages were upvoted and repeated by thousands of unsuspecting Americans. “I believe the biggest risk we face as Americans is our own ability to discern reality from nonsense,” Huffman wrote. “I wish there was a solution as simple as banning all propaganda, but it’s not that easy.”

Leftist communities on Reddit often implore the company to ban The_Donald. So far, Huffman has demurred. “There are arguments on both sides,” he said, “but, ultimately, my view is that their anger comes from feeling like they don’t have a voice, so it won’t solve anything if I take away their voice.” He thought of something else to say, but decided against it. Then he took a swig of beer and said it anyway. “I’m confident that Reddit could sway elections,” he told me. “We wouldn’t do it, of course. And I don’t know how many times we could get away with it. But, if we really wanted to, I’m sure Reddit could have swayed at least this election, this once.” That’s a terrifying thought. It’s also almost certainly true.

The moderator u/pm_me_yo_doggos has a comprehensive list of events in this post. I think you're best bet is to put these radio hosts in touch with the Moderators as they have a better understanding of details.

I highly recommend reading the below link. It has all the details I think you'll be looking for, or at least have better questions to get more information.

May 19th, 2017 On May 19th, Reddit Inc gave us these special sanctions. In addition to our site-rules, we expect the following: [stuff here] This was not when Reddit Inc applied the special sanctions, however it is the first record that we have at hand. The sanctions were first applied several months earlier.

This is when r/the_donald, and ONLY r/the_donald was banned from mentioning our equivilent sub-reddit on the left of r/politics and hence it was referenced as r/redacted ever since.

The entry for June 29th, 2019 details the reasoning the Reddit admins gave for quarantining the subreddit. I recommend reading it for some irony.

I'm done spam editing. Hope this is what you were looking for. And if the radio station is interested, have them request impression numbers for advertising on r/the_donald and see what we pull every month in comparison to our official subscriber count. That should raise an eyebrow when they look and do some sample comparisons to other subreddits.

Thanks for the links and extra info! Appreciate your help. Where would they go to request the impression numbers?

Possibly with the advertisement link in the footer:

https://www.reddit.com/adsregister?dest=https://ads.reddit.com/?p=advertising&utm_source=external_domain&utm_medium=rm.reddit.com

But that's probably more of a middle game than the attention getter if I were to one selling the story.

Ya it might just be interesting stats to include to flesh out the story further. Thanks again for the help and ideas. Hopefully this can gain some traction as real election interference and silencing the opposition.
