If I were running the CDC I'd know I'd be despised for every shortcoming or false hope and I too would be telling people to prepare for the worst, the same way doctors warn people before surgery about possible bad outcomes. At this point it is obvious the virus is spreading, no one is going to believe a super rosy picture.
Navarro was excellent and concise. He neither promised all will be well, which no one can predict about an illness so recent, nor did he threaten disaster. He just reported on what is being done and this is reassuring, the potential patient needs to feel that someone cares and is trying.Trump may be physically out of the country but I don't think he misses much or is helpless because of that.
