Covid-19 is as widespread as it is because the symptoms are equally wide spread. The reality is, only a quarter of effected people are seriously hospitalized. A large number of people are "infected" but totally asymptomatic. Take it seriously in respect to how unprepared the world is. But, preparing for the end of the world is overblown. China's infrastructure, or lack there of, is what caused this to become a pandemic. Western countries will be fine if people don't panic.

That's a very high percentage, dude.

Only a portion of those people require serious treatment.

There is a lot of room for misery between 'total collapse' and 'harmless flu.' Numbers suggest coronavirus could be fatal for up to 10% of the population. But it's no big deal if 1 in 10 people you know dies, right?

Please cite a source for a 10% death rate.

Check the official reporting. Roughly 30,000 closed cases (recovered or died) and roughly 3,000 dead.

That's if you believe China's numbers. There is plenty of evidence that they have incinerated thousands more bodies without reporting the deaths.

The mortality rate is very low and the vast majority of those people came from China where the infrastructure is weak. Western countries with capable facilities will have an even lower mortality rate due to better ability to care for infected people.
