I personally think there is nothing wrong with standing by Israel and it's people. They have enemies on every side, just waiting for a slip up to eradicate them, and shows of strength are keeping them free. Would we do any different if people were lobbing rockets into our country every day?
The People of Israel are our greatest allies in the region. They are a bastion of western ideals in a corner of the world peddling archaic and despotic demagoguery
We didn't help create Israel as a homeland for the Jewish people after the atrocities committed by Hitler's Germany just to get buddy-buddy with hardline Islamist nations in the modern day and allow them to erode it. Israel is not only a valuable ally in the middle east, they are our eternal allies from inception. Are there religious extremists of the Jewish persuasion that have distasteful beliefs? Sure. That doesnt represent the entirety of Judaidm. I think Isreal should have a seat on the UN security council.

I think they have a great teaching tool that other religions would do well to copy.

In order to participate in the congregation as an adult, a young person has to memorize and repeat essentially a long string of gibberish. It's Hebrew, and all they have to do is get the sound right, but it takes some brute force memory.
Then, they also have to read and give a short talk about a short section of religious writing.
All this memorizing and reading and writing and speech preparation takes months. But, accomplishing it makes a huge difference in the kid. Every kid who has been bar- or bat- mitzvah'd has the ability to speak up well in public.
This is so much better than Confirmation for Catholics.
