I lived in an actual summer cabin in Vermont. It was not a palatial home with a separate guest cottage on an island on Lake Champlain - it was a plywood shack with no central heat, the hot water heater was on the floor in the living room, the windows were covered in plastic tarps to keep the wind and cold out, and we had to dig up the 'septic tank' a couple times each year to get it to drain. That's what normal people up there consider a 'summer camp' that people of relatively normal (well off but not mega rich) means can afford - not some half million dollar uber exclusive location on a secluded semi private island with a guest house. Oh yeah, the summer camp next door had wooden skids on the bottom, because the owners got it free from the people on the opposite side of the lake who replaced it with a prefabricated house, and to move it they just nailed skids to the bottom and dragged it across the lake when it froze in the winter.

You try to explain the definition of capitalism to them and they get angry, begin raising their voice, quoting college professors and throwing insults and appealing to other participants in the conversation for aid or at least to help deride.
I've never seen anything like it. The destruction of the rational and educated mind is nearly complete in the world.
